Cloudflare Launches cf: A Comprehensive CLI for the Entire Cloudflare API

Cloudflare has announced the launch of cf, a new command-line interface (CLI) tool designed to provide agents with access to the entire Cloudflare API. This CLI is built to cater to the evolving needs of software development and aims to standardize and expand the capabilities of existing tools like Wrangler.

According to the announcement, the usage of Wrangler by agents has surged, reaching 48% last week from a quarter of usage in March 2026. Agents are now using almost twice as many distinct commands per day and are four times more likely to use six or more commands daily.

The introduction of cf addresses the limitations of Wrangler, which only provides commands for around 280 operations, while Cloudflare offers thousands of API operations. The new CLI is designed to be more versatile and user-friendly, featuring bespoke search and steering capabilities, and JSON as the default interface, pretty-printed for human readability and condensed for agent efficiency.

Cloudflare's Forge, a unified API generation pipeline, enabled the creation of cf by generating CLI commands directly from the API schema that powers API documentation and SDK generation. This approach allows cf to cover over 3,000 operations, significantly expanding its functionality compared to the ~280 functions available in Wrangler.

With cf, agents can now perform a wide range of tasks, from setting up and deploying workers to monitoring and protecting them with Cloudflare Access, purchasing domains, and fronting them with Cloudflare WAF, all from a single tool.
