Affiliate disclosure

Where things stand today

Fathom Layer is funded by affiliate programs. We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program: as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Buttons labeled View on Amazon or Search on Amazon can earn us a commission. So can buttons labeled Search on Best Buy or View at Best Buy, through the Sovrn Commerce affiliate network. You never pay more because of it. Every other purchase button sends you straight to the manufacturer or store, and nobody pays us for that click.

Prices shown on our pages are the manufacturer's list prices from their official sources, not Amazon's prices — check the current price on the store before buying. A “Search on Amazon” button opens a search, not a specific listing, because that item is sold in several versions and we only link a single listing once we have checked it is the exact item on the page.

How links are counted

Outbound links go through an internal redirect, which we use to count clicks in aggregate. Page views are measured with cookieless analytics and no advertising pixels — what is and is not stored is set out in the privacy policy.

What commission will never buy

Money never decides whether an item is published, what its page says, or the order in which items appear. An item with no affiliate link goes through exactly the same automated checks as one that pays. The full criteria are on the methodology page.
