AIRPPU Partners with OpenAI and WAN-IFRA to Strengthen Ukrainian Media with New AI Programme
OpenAI, WAN-IFRA, and AIRPPU have launched a new initiative to support Ukrainian news publishers through AI adoption and innovation.
OpenAI, WAN-IFRA, and the Association of Independent Regional Press Publishers of Ukraine (AIRPPU) have announced a new initiative to support and strengthen Ukrainian news publishers by building practical artificial intelligence capabilities and accelerating innovation across their organizations. During a time of continued conflict and unrest, the new initiative aims to help news organizations harness the opportunities of artificial intelligence to strengthen the sustainability, efficiency, and resilience of independent journalism.
The programme combines two complementary components:
- Newsroom AI, supporting news organizations selected by AIRPPU in developing and implementing AI-driven newsroom projects.
- Business Transformation, supporting AI-driven commercial and operational transformation projects.
Oksana Brovko, CEO of AIRPPU, emphasized the importance of the initiative in giving journalists more time to focus on journalism. Stig Ørskov, CEO of WAN-IFRA, highlighted the organization's commitment to supporting Ukrainian media since the full-scale invasion in 2022. Tom Rubin, Chief of Intellectual Property and Content at OpenAI, expressed the company's pleasure in contributing to a stronger and more sustainable future for independent journalism in Ukraine.
