Polimill Launches QommonsAI with OpenAI Technology for Japanese Municipalities

Polimill has developed QommonsAI, an AI platform built with OpenAI technology, to support about 1,050 municipalities in Japan. The platform aims to enhance civic participation and streamline public-sector workflows. QommonsAI provides specialized AI services across areas such as assembly response, public services, social welfare, and legal search. Approximately 550,000 public employees across Japan now use QommonsAI.

Masahiro Wakabayashi, Chief AI Officer at Polimill, emphasized the importance of using AI to address labor shortages and improve government efficiency. Polimill collected and standardized assembly minutes from across Japan to build a high-precision search foundation that works across municipalities and time periods. OpenAI supports Polimill's development through technical validation and individual samples, enabling Polimill to evolve QommonsAI into a public operating system for municipal work in Japan.

Wakabayashi envisions QommonsAI as a common foundation that supports every municipality equally, aiming to bridge service gaps and foster a next-generation public infrastructure where governments, companies, and citizens connect through AI.
