NVIDIA Announces Isaac ROS 5.0 with AI Agent Capabilities
NVIDIA Isaac ROS 5.0 introduces AI agent capabilities to the ROS developer ecosystem, expanding open source physical AI libraries and deployment across the NVIDIA Jetson platform.
NVIDIA announced the release of Isaac ROS 5.0 at the ROSCon conference in Toronto, Canada. The latest version of Isaac ROS brings AI agent capabilities to the ROS developer ecosystem, helping developers build high-performance robotics applications using familiar, open source tools. Isaac ROS 5.0 introduces support for ROS Lyrical and Ubuntu 24.04, enabling developers to adopt the latest ROS platform while accelerating demanding robotics workloads with NVIDIA's accelerated computing technology. The release also includes new agentic workflows and platform support, making it easier for developers to build, customize, and deploy robotics applications faster.
FoundationStereo fine-tuning skill and FoundationPose, a foundation model for object pose estimation and tracking, are now available, providing developers with more accurate perception and faster inference. Additionally, pick and place workflows are now available as standalone, agent-ready skills, offering robot developers greater flexibility. NVIDIA Isaac ROS is now integrating with FieldAI’s robot foundation models, which can run entirely on robots without relying on cloud connectivity, to improve the efficiency of the on-robot AI stack. Noble Machines is using NVIDIA Isaac ROS on Jetson to accelerate the development of general-purpose robots for industrial applications.
Isaac ROS 5.0 is available now and is free and open source. Developers can learn more and get started with NVIDIA Isaac ROS on GitHub.
