Google Launches New Interactive Data Visualizations for AI & Economy ATLAS

Google has introduced new interactive data visualizations for its AI & Economy ATLAS, making it easier to explore global AI adoption trends. The U.S. leads in technical AI adoption, with computer and mathematical occupations accounting for 30% of work-related AI usage, double the global average. The new interactive experience allows users to delve into AI usage rates across various occupations and countries.

New ATLAS-based research from Google, Google DeepMind, and MIT FutureTech reveals that scientists are using AI at a higher rate than many other occupations, with nearly half of surveyed scientists using AI daily. Both large language models (LLMs) like Gemini and specialized AI models are widely used in scientific research, leading to significant time savings of just below seven hours a week. However, this increased productivity is creating bottlenecks in areas like physical experimentation and clinical validation, indicating the need for redesigned scientific processes and workflows to fully realize AI's potential.

Google plans to continue working with academic partners to identify new areas of research and deliver insights that contribute to a better understanding of AI's impact on the economy.
