Google Announces AI Advances in Health and Disaster Prediction

Google is building AI to accelerate scientific discoveries and improve lives in various fields. The company is particularly focusing on health, natural disaster prediction, and learning opportunities.

In the realm of health, Google has made significant strides with its AlphaFold technology, which predicted all 200 million known protein structures, aiding in drug discovery and understanding neglected diseases. AlphaMissense is helping identify disease-causing genetic mutations, while the new AlphaGenome Atlas is being developed to offer scientists more comprehensive data.

As Nobel laureate Joel Mokyr noted, new technology drives scientific advances, creating a positive feedback loop that can continue to grow indefinitely. AI, according to Google, is the most powerful engine for this loop, with much more potential yet to be realized.
