Amazon Bedrock Expands Claude Model Availability in India

Amazon Bedrock announced the availability of Anthropic's Claude Opus 5, Claude Sonnet 5, and Claude Haiku 4.5 models in India, allowing customers to process data locally within the country. This update supports geographic cross-Region inference from the Mumbai and Hyderabad Regions.

What happened

Amazon Bedrock has expanded its offerings to include Anthropic's Claude models with in-country inferencing capabilities in India. This update allows customers to process data locally within the country, meeting the requirements for data processing within a desired geography. The models, including Claude Opus 5, Claude Sonnet 5, and Claude Haiku 4.5, can be accessed through the Amazon Bedrock console or programmatically using the Anthropic Messages API and Amazon Bedrock InvokeModel and Converse API. Customers can monitor usage and costs through CloudWatch and AWS Cost Explorer.
