The Oura Ring 4 is a premium smart ring designed for individuals seeking advanced health and wellness tracking. It offers a range of finishes and materials, with titanium construction providing durability and comfort. The ring's 18-path multi-wavelength PPG sensor, temperature sensor, and SpO2 monitor deliver comprehensive health data, making it ideal for users who want detailed insights into their sleep, activity, and physiological metrics. However, the high price point and mandatory subscription for full functionality may limit its appeal to budget-conscious consumers. The Oura Ring 4 is best suited for those willing to invest in a long-term health monitoring solution.
The Ring 4 holds the top of the smart-ring category by focusing relentlessly on passive health data. An 18-path multi-wavelength PPG array, titanium inside and out, up to 8 days of battery, and sleep and readiness scoring that wrist-based trackers still do not match on accuracy.
The subscription is the standing complaint
You buy the hardware from $349 and still pay $5.99/month (or $69.99/year) to read the full data. It is a real friction point and the reason RingConn and Circular exist — but Oura's interpretation layer, the part that tells you what a temperature deviation or an HRV dip means, is also the most developed in the category, and that is what the membership funds.
Other trade-offs
- Gold and ceramic finishes jump to $499.
- No haptics — it tracks, it cannot notify you.
- Sizes run 4–15, so order the sizing kit first.
Who should buy
People optimising recovery who dislike sleeping in a watch, and anyone who wants the most accurate consumer sleep data with coaching on top. If a recurring fee is a dealbreaker, buy RingConn or Circular and accept a thinner app.
