Playco, a startup in the media and entertainment industry, has reported a significant reduction in manual fixes when using GPT-6 Astra to prototype games. According to the announcement, Playco built three themed game prototypes from a single grey box foundation, with most prototypes working on the first attempt. This represents a 50% reduction in manual fixes compared to previous models.
Playco is developing Playbot, an AI-powered Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for professional game developers. Playbot connects directly to game engines such as Unity and Godot, allowing AI models to edit scenes, play and test games, validate changes, and work in parallel within the tools developers already use.
Lead Product Engineer Joao Vieira noted that GPT-6 Astra excels in spatial reasoning and positioning elements, with improved vision capabilities and UI responsiveness in game engines. The team observed that the first prototype created with Astra was already strong, requiring only minor adjustments based on gameplay preferences. One cyberpunk-themed version needed a performance fix, but the rest were completed without additional iteration.
Playco's biggest impact from using GPT-6 Astra is the ability to rapidly turn ideas into playable prototypes, enabling developers to compare and refine multiple game concepts efficiently.
