GitHub Copilot App Now Supports Running Multiple Agents Simultaneously

GitHub Copilot app allows users to run several AI agents concurrently on the same project without interference.

GitHub has announced a new feature in the GitHub Copilot app that enables users to run multiple AI agents simultaneously on the same project. According to the announcement, these agents operate independently and do not interfere with each other, allowing developers to increase productivity by managing several tasks at once.

The feature is described as analogous to running multiple loads of laundry in separate machines, where each agent session can be configured individually and run in parallel. Each session runs on its own Git worktree, ensuring isolation and preventing any cross-session interference.

Developers can start new sessions at any time without disrupting ongoing tasks, making the process more efficient. The GitHub Copilot app provides a sessions view where users can monitor the progress of each agent session, allowing them to focus on reviewing and making decisions rather than constantly monitoring the agents.

GitHub encourages users to try starting two small tasks simultaneously to experience the benefits of parallel agent sessions firsthand.
