Editorial context

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a high-end foldable smartphone designed for users who prioritize premium materials, advanced camera capabilities, and a refined hinge design. It offers a large 7.6-inch main screen and a smaller 5.5-inch cover screen, making it versatile for both single-handed use and full-screen multitasking. The device is built with Armor Aluminum and features Corning® Gorilla® Glass for durability. The 16 GB of RAM paired with a powerful customized processor ensures smooth performance, while the 4800 mAh battery supports up to 26 hours of video playback. However, the hefty price tag of $1899.99 and the limited storage options available (1 TB, 512 GB, and 256 GB) make it a niche product for those who can afford the premium experience.

Released in August 2026, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 refines the foldable experience with an ultra-thin chassis, an under-display camera that finally matches flagship quality, and heavy integration of Galaxy AI for real-time translation and productivity.

Galaxy Z Fold 8: fixing apps that won't fill the inner screenPro tip

Some apps — social and video apps are the usual offenders — still don't adapt to the near-square inner display and leave thick black bars down each side.

The built-in fix

Go to Settings → Display → Full screen apps (sometimes listed as App aspect ratio). Find the misbehaving app and set it to Full screen. Android stretches the app to the panel without breaking its layout.

If the app still misbehaves

Toggle the same setting off and on with the app closed, or add the "restart on aspect-ratio change" option where Samsung exposes it — that forces the app to re-lay-out cleanly when you unfold instead of keeping the phone-screen dimensions.

The rule

The Fold's software has a per-app override for exactly this. You almost never need a third-party tool — check the Full screen apps list first.
